Scanning on a Mac using HP scanjet 5590
1. Turn scanner on by pressing on power button (see buttonsonscanner). If scanner does not turn on, unplug the black & white wire from the scanner and re-plug it.
2. Choose ‘HP Scan Pro’ from the dock.
3. Depending on what you are scanning you will place sheets on a different place:
a. Flat Bed Scanner for a single sheet at a time: Lift up and line the paper up with the arrow in the lower right hand corner of the scanner
b. Automatic document feeder for multiple sheets: place paper with the text/image up between the two dark grey holders. The scanner will automatically sense that the paper is there.
4. Depending on what you are scanning you are going to press a different button (see buttonsonscanner).
You can also press the ‘New Scan’ button on the top left corner of the ‘HP Scan Pro’ to preview what you are trying to scan if it is in the flat bed scanner
5. You can adjust the resolution…. of what you are scanning (see adjust)
6. You can scan to different formats. Choose format you want (see HPscreen). The most commonly used ones are:
a. Image File
b. Text File
c. PDF File
d. Printer
e. Adobe Photoshop (scans to application Adobe Photoshop)
f. Adobe Reader (scans to application)
g. Ect….
7. After selecting the area which you want to scan (this can be changed by dragging the moving grey dotted line and can only be used when scanning single sheets using the flat bed) press ‘ Accept’ and you will be prompted to find a place to save and name your document before the document will be scanned
