That’s a cool tool indeed. Thanks for the tip. I’m planning to put a link up on my own course blog.
As an alumna AND a parent of a current Bryn Martyr, I also wanted to say that I enjoyed watching the livewebcast of Bryn Mawr’s new president this afternoon! And I got the unexpected surprise of seeing Laura delivering a welcome speech on behalf of the staff association!
I attended Bryn Mawr way back in the dark ages, when all we had were keypunch machines and a card reader in the basement of Dalton. We had no actual computer on campus at all, just a very slowwwww telephone line to a primitive timesharing mainframe housed at Penn, which returned output hours later–and more often than not, the output we got back was just an error message! So we’d carefully inspect our deck of punchcards, trying to figure out where the mistake was, keypunch a corrected card, resubmit, and hold our breath for hours again. I don’t remember the staff doing anything at all there to help us out except for mechanically tending the fragile and temperamental cardreaders and noisy giant line-printers.
So, I’m really impressed by all that Laura does to share what she’s learned with the rest of us working at other colleges and universities around the country. We have a new education-technology-vision person working at the college where I teach, and I was proud to be able to send him a link to the BMC ETC blog! I think it’s a great model of technology leadership.
Anassa kata, kalo kale Ia ia ia Nike! to Laura and the entire Educational Technology Department!
